As an instructor, Don is a member of ILEETA, The International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association and holds NYS instructor certifications as both a Firearms Instructor (FT) and Use-of-Force/General Topics instructor (GT). He is an Active Shooter Response Instructor and Scenario Based Force-on-Force Instructor. His experience and expertise includes 29+ years of continued study, training and teaching security and armed guard practices, judicious use-of-force, tactical firearms and scenario/reality based force-on-force training, as well as expert consulting in Firearms and Scenario-Based Force-on-Force training accident cases.The American Tactical Shooters Association has recognized Don as a Tactician and a past winner of the prestigious NTI, National Tactical Invitational.
Catastrophic Firearms and Force-on-ForceTraining Injury Cases: Don was featured speaker at the PPIAC, Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado’s 2023 annual conference in Denver, CO. The presentation was a 2 hour block on Force-on-Force training including investigating catastrophic training accidents, the causation thereof and acting as a Subject Matter Expert.
Establishing Justification in a Self Defense / Use of Force case: Don is a featured speaker at the upcoming FALI, Florida Association of Licensed Investigators 2024 Annual conference in Tampa, FL. The presentation will be a 2 hour block on examining the elements required across all 50 states, as well as state specific stand your ground and/or duty to retreat laws necessary to establish justification in a Self Defense / Use of Force case.
Active Shooter Preparedness and Response: Don was a featured speaker at a large conference in NYC in 2020 consisting of attorneys, doctors, health care professionals, hospital security and hospital management on Active Shooter Preparedness and Response planning.
Personal Safety / Situational Awareness: Don conducted a Personal Safety presentation in St. Petersburg, FL in 2024 for a private corporate clients staff of approximately 100 people based on Situational Awareness.
Advanced Firearms and Tactics Trainer: Don was a featured instructor at the invitation only Surgical Speed Shooting Summit held in TN in 2020.
